My Experience At SolDesign

Bailey

The following post was written by our amazing 6th-grade intern, Bailey, who joined the Sol office for a week.

The week of the 13th I was asked if I wanted do some work for SolDesign. I immediately said yes without knowing what I would be doing. I texted my friend’s aunt also known as the one who asked me if I wanted work and I said what would I be doing? She responded “research and a photo shoot.” I was so excited because I had never been into a office or even done any work in one.

On the first day I was so nervous but excited. When my dad and I got to the various buildings we looked inside every one of them before finding the right one. When we found the right one we tried walking in not knowing that the door was locked. When we knocked I had this excited and nervous feeling rush through my body. When Troy walked up to the door and unlocked it I freaked out. When I walked in I saw Adam and he walked down the stairs. He said hello to my dad and I. Adam introduced me to everyone and gave us a tour. When we got upstairs I saw Mary on the phone and I was wondering if I would wait outside the door till she finished but instead Adam walked in and let me sit down and wait. When Mary got off the phone we talked and then we went to octane (the coffee shop next door) and we got food and drinks.

When we got back a meeting started and it was interesting because they talk about what everyone is going to do for the week. During the meeting they talked about using social media for one of their clients and they asked me how to use snapchat. I felt kind of weird talking to all the people in the room. After that was over Mary gave me a task and showed me to a desk. I worked on the task for a good 20 minutes or so and when I finished that I went up to Mary and I got another task. When it was about lunchtime Mary texted my dad to see if he could have lunch with the 2 of use. He came and Mary said she still had to work but that I should go. My dad and I had lunch together and after that my dad took me home.

The next day I was nervous but not too nervous, I got the task of finding pictures for a post. I had a lot of fun with that and was excited for the next task. As the week went by I had done a lot of different things but my 2 favorite things were getting to meet and hang out with the SolDesign crew. My 2nd favorite thing was finding inspirational quotes and photos for schools. These 2 things were my favorites because meeting the different people here was interesting because they all had different qualities. I really liked finding inspirational things because it was fun reading all these cool quotes and seeing beautiful images that felt inspiring. That concludes my wonderful experience at Sol.

Thank you for your awesome work, Bailey!

  1. Arf arf arf. Ba-bark bark bark. Woof woof, woof woof woof! Bark arf, arf arf bark, woof arf bark woof.

  2. What I believe my colleague, Wheatie, is trying to say above is: “It was very nice to meet you, Bailey. Thanks for spending a week with us, and for laying on the floor with me between tasks. Please come back any time.”

Even though he can obviously type fluent English, it is an honor for him to have addressed you in his native tongue.
