Are You Hungry? Our Top Instagram Food Accounts to Follow

September 19, 2017

This post is co-authored by Jake and Shannon, foodies and Insta addicts.

So it wasn’t that long ago that we preached using social media to post more meaningful content than your lunch. But as social evolves, content evolves, and it turns out food is a pretty awesome subject. We’re pretty much ALL foodies at the Sol office, and if you’re friends with us, you’ve probably got a foodie side to you, too. It’s for that reason we present the top Instagram food accounts we follow:

Local Atlanta Love

We Love BuHi

Instagram-account-turned-business-alliance We Love BuHi organizes bike rides, art installations and more along the Buford Highway corridor. They were also recently joined by Beltline creator Ryan Gravel—expect exciting things to come.

Let’s Taco Bout It

We met Jace when he was looking for a design for his new taco food truck. Needless to say, we jumped at the chance. The result was this sleek black truck with the Aztec-inspired lizard logo. Now we follow Jace’s insta to get updates on his whereabouts (and to torture ourselves with severe taco cravings).

Guy Wong

Troy’s BFF on the Atlanta food scene recently opened Ton Ton ramen at Ponce City Market. We love their classic tonkatsu as well as their brothless ‘Invincible Dan Dan Mazemen’—suffice it to say, this ain’t no Cup Noodles instant ramen. (They are, however, some very tasteful noods.)

The Giving Kitchen

When chef Ryan Hidinger was diagnosed with cancer, instead of abandoning his plans to start his own restaurant, Staplehouse, he and his wife spun off a nonprofit to help other food industry workers struck by catastrophe. Ryan died in 2014 but his Giving Kitchen Initiative has since given away almost $2 million in crisis grants, and all profits from Staplehouse go to support TGK.

JavaCats

We feel #blessed to have Atlanta’s first cat cafe around the corner from our office—their posts consist of maybe 5% food and drinks and 95% cats but we’re okay with this.

Sweet Auburn Curb Market

Before Krog Street or Ponce City Market hit the scene, Sweet Auburn was one of the only food halls of its type in Atlanta, and retains one of the best assortments of restaurants and grocery stands—whether you’re looking for tripe, chitterlings, oxtails or trotters you can probably find them here.

Random Chicken Bones of ATL

The United States consumes nearly 50 billion pounds of chicken every year, according to the National Chicken Council. Georgia produces more chicken than any other state—around 6.8 billion pounds per year or 1.3 billion chickens, some of which inevitably ends up on the sidewalk.

Other Instas We Can’t Resist

Drake on Cake

Need we say more? Maybe just that this account is run by the very popular Joy the Baker.

Lorde’s shut down onion ring account

So you can’t actually follow this account as its now defunct, but it’s one you should know about.

Ina Garten

Doesn’t some part of you want to be Ina Garten? Her (recipes, videos, life) are just so pure, so soothing, so perfect. (Shannon here – I admit I fantasize about cooking for Jeffrey even though we’ve never met.)

Popeye the Foodie

Stray pup turned Instagram celebrity with pictures of gorgeous food in LA? We can’t help ourselves.

Local Milk

If you love muted colors, linen, travel, babies, and stunning food photography, you will love Nashville-based Local Milk. On top of the exquisite beauty of her posts, she periodically keeps it real, which is both beautiful and refreshing.

Olga Noskovaa

Russian baker Olga Noskovaa’s stunning marbled cakes are mesmerizing.
