This month, we’re highlighting some of the amazing women we’ve worked with over the years. Stacey Adams is our first inspiration. As the Director of Marketing at 3C Software in Atlanta, she’s done an incredible job telling the story of 3C from its origins as a small company to one changing how companies do cost accounting. We’ve worked with Stacey more than 10 years and consider her both a wonderful client and friend. Her responses to our questions below nearly made us cry – enjoy!
Why do you do what you do?
As an engineering major in college, one of the best feelings I can remember is when I’d finally figure out something really complicated and could explain it to someone else. Throughout my career, I’ve gravitated to work that gives me that same rush. Now as a marketer telling stories to finance leaders on how to improve their cost accounting processes, I’m keeping the theme of complex to simple alive.
What would you want others to know about your work?
Marketing today is more than just creating a cool, catch logo and writing some crisp content. You can geek out with left-brained analytical activities like analyzing site traffic and measuring KPI performance, or immerse your creative right brain with activities like telling cool stories and developing brands. I think the great marketing leaders understand, and thrive, in the intersection of these two worlds.
Who are the women you look up to?
First, my Mom. She is my first and best example of what it means to be an authentic woman. I also have an amazing tribe of women who’ve been a part of my life’s fabric for decades. They are making things happen in business, law, entertainment, medicine, entrepreneurship… and they keep me both inspired and motivated.
What is your biggest piece of advice for young women today?
Be brave. Each transformation I’ve experienced is a result of making a conscious decision to make something better, or do something different. The results aren’t always perfect, but there is always learning and growth. I’m lucky to see the world through the eyes of my fearless four-year-old daughter. Because of her, I’ve discovered my spirit princess – Moana – and her drive to push beyond her limits and discover her true self. When I need to be brave, you might just hear me say “I am Moana of Motunui. You will board my boat, sail across the sea, and restore the heart of Te Fiti.”
Thank you, Stacey!
AWESOME… and inspiring, I will be proud to share this with my daughters…
